Child Counselling in Calgary, AB
Counselling for Children Ages 6–18
Childhood and adolescence are a time of incredible growth. For many, it is also a time of intense and overwhelming emotions. While everyone experiences emotions such as sadness, stress, anger, and anxiety, these feelings can sometimes cause difficulty in our lives.
At Bluebird Psychology we provide counselling for children and adolescents aged 6 to 18. Our child psychologists specialize in supporting young people through challenges such as anxiety, depression, school stress, self-esteem challenges, anger management, and social difficulties. We believe every child has the capacity to thrive when given the right tools, understanding, and support.
Our Approach
We use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based, goal-oriented approach that helps children understand the link between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Through CBT, children learn practical strategies to manage worries, improve mood, and build coping skills they can use for life.
To make therapy engaging and effective, we also integrate:
Expressive Art
Play Therapy Techniques
Mindfulness Practices
Games and Fun!
A Supportive Environment
Our clinic is a welcoming space where children and teens feel heard, respected, and understood. We take the time to get to know each child’s unique personality, strengths, and challenges, creating an individualized treatment plan that works best for them. Parents are an important part of the process - we keep you informed and involved while respecting your child’s confidentiality.
We Can Help With:
Anxiety and worry
Depression and low mood
ADHD support
Anger and emotional regulation
Social skills and friendship challenges
School stress and perfectionism
Self-esteem and confidence building
Coping with family changes
Developing healthier coping skills
The Counselling Process
If you are ready to move forward, please book an initial session (for parents only). This parent meeting will give us an opportunity to chat about how your child is currently doing and discuss your areas of concern.
The number of sessions required depends on the individual. Some children and teens require only brief or short-term therapy while others benefit from speaking to someone on an ongoing basis. Other factors that can influence the therapeutic process include the complexity of concerns, willingness and desire to engage in therapy, and how often new skills are practiced outside of sessions.
The fee for counselling is $220 per 50-minute session. We offer sessions in person at our Calgary office and virtually throughout Alberta.
(As of September 1st, 2025, this fee will be $240 per 50-minute session)
